Vegetable Soup

Image
Elm class have been super busy today making vegetable soup. We
practised lots of skills like peeling and chopping and thought really
carefully about keeping ourselves safe in the kitchen.

In the
afternoon we earthed up our potatoes and made detailed observations of
different flowers.

Little Red Hen morning

Image
On Friday, we made bread rolls. First we weighed and measured the
ingredients and mixed them together. We had to knead the dough for
about 10 minutes! Then we had to let the rough rise for an hour. We
were amazed when we went back to look at it- it had doubled in size!
After that we had to "knock the dough back" and then knead it again.
Next we had to shape the dough into rolls and leave them to rise again.
Then we baked them for about 15 minutes. No wonder the Little Red Hen
wanted some help!

We also made windmills with sails that turn and
wrote sorry letters from the cat to the Little Red Hen for not helping
to make the bread.
